Buttercup (Ranunculaceae)

Note:  Seeds are eaten by waterfowl.  Leaves and stems are often eaten by fish and birds.  Buttercup flowers emerge form the water.  These two species can be distinguished by flower color. 

NWI status: All species are considered OBL.

Yellow water buttercup (Ranunculus flabellaris Raf.)
Native perennial.

Note: Yellow flowers. Yellow water buttercup is currently known from only McCurtain County.

Longbeak buttercup (Ranunculus longirostris Godr.)
Native perennial.

Note: White flowers.  Although this plant is wide ranging in Oklahoma, it is rarely encountered.
