Water-nymphs (Najadaceae)  

NWI status: frog-bits are considered OBL.

Southern water nymph (Najas guadalupensis (Spreng.) Magnus)
Native annual.

Notes: the entire plant is eaten by shorebirds and waterfowl.  This species can be confused with the narrow leaf pondweeds or horned pondweed.  However, southern water nymph has toothed (serrate) leaf margins and fruits in the leaf axils.
