Notes: Common stream-side tree in eastern and
central
Oklahoma. Used by the Cherokee to treat
rash, diarrhea, measles, milky urine, and menstration.
The Creek used it for the treatment of
tuberculosis. The Delaware treated
colds ansd sore throat with infusion from the bark.
Sycamore is a fast-growing hardy tree and is
extensively used as
a shade tree in Oklahoma. The moderately strong fine-textured wood is
used for
furniture and specialty items such as brush handles and butcher blocks.
