Metadata
Metadata (data about data) provides a standard format to use in describing data and information sources so that people can quickly and easily compare and contrast among many different sources to choose those that best meet their needs. The Oklahoma Biological Survey is following a metadata standard for spatial data developed by the National Biological Information Infrastructure of the US Geological Survey's Biological Resource Division.
Metadata is a standardized way of describing a data set so that information about the data including subject matter, data collection methods, data accuracy, and data quality can be easily assessed. In addtion, metadata contains distribution information so you can find out in what form the data is available and how to obtain the information.
As we prepare more metadata for Survey data sets, they will be added to this list.
